TAIPEI: Golden Horse award-winning actress Angelica Lee and Hong Kong director Oxide Pang are set to tie the knot this Saturday in Malaysia.
According to Lee’s close friend, the couple will invite a small number of their family and friends to a sunny island 40 minutes away by boat from Kuala Lumpur, where they will hold a warm, romantic wedding ceremony.
The ceremony will be held outdoors, on the beach in the morning, with the wedding banquet in the evening. The couple and their guests will spend the night on the island and depart the next morning.
The 34-year-old Malaysian actress first met Pang, 45, on the set of horror film “The Eye” in 2002, which won her a Golden Horse Best Actress award. The pair have been dating for seven years.
Rumours of their impending marriage had circulated incessantly during that time. However, when Pang was photographed drinking, and then returning to a hotel with a 19-year-old female model in October 2008, the rumours died down.
Pang explained himself after the incident and Lee said she trusted her boyfriend but little news of their wedding surfaced since then, up until this surprise revelation.
Lee had reportedly told her friends to keep the couple’s wedding plans under wraps, for fear attracting excessive and intrusive media coverage of the event, though with the leaking of the entire day’s itinerary, it appears to have become a moot point.
